Financial Aid Guidelines for the Young Artist Seminar
Rocky Ridge Music Center is recognized as a non-profit corporation of Colorado. The program fees charged by Rocky Ridge Music Center do not cover the total cost per student attending the Young Artist Seminar. Quality education is expensive and costs continue to rise. However, through funds generously provided by donors to the Center, we are able to offer a program costing participants substantially less.
The purpose of the RRMC Foundation Financial Aid Program is to provide assistance to talented students whom otherwise could not attend Rocky Ridge Music Center. Through the various opportunities listed below, Rocky Ridge tries to make it possible for every student to attend. The Foundation wishes to aid the largest number of students possible, so early application is encouraged for any financial assistance. Financial Aid applications will be considered based on remaining funds available. To be considered for financial aid, complete and return the application on the reverse side within 10 days from its original postmark date.
Foundation scholarships are normally limited to approximately one-fourth to one-third of the total basic fee. However, it is possible for a student to receive at least half of the tuition with the addition of the categories (work crew, scholarships, student staff and deferred payment) listed below. All students are expected to pay the Application Fee ($100), Admissions Reservation ($300), and Room and Board (approximately $175/week).
Deferred Payment Plan
Deferred payment plans are available to students who have demonstrated financial need and have met the requirements for such a contract. Interest at a rate of 12% per annum will be charged on the unpaid balance. A late payment fee of $10.00 per month will be assessed on all late payments received after the 10th of the month. A processing fee of $10.00 will be assessed as itemized in the payment schedule.
Please feel free to contact our administrative office if you have any questions regarding our scholarship and financial assistance policies.

Ways to Obtain Financial Aid and Reduce Tuition Costs
1. Talent/Need Basis: Scholarships are awarded on the basis of exceptional talent, positive attitude, strong recommendations, and/or demonstrated financial need. Scholarship students are expected to perform during the first two weeks of the session in a performance class.
2. Work Crew Scholarships: By participating in our Work Crew Scholarship program, students will receive substantial tuition credit, meet other students from across the country and form lifelong friendships. This is also a way for students to spend more time in the magnificent Rocky Mountains. The work crew program takes place during four* sessions:
A . June 9 to 18 - $336
B. July 24 to Aug 9 - $740
C. Aug 9 to 20 - $336
D. Aug 20 to 28 - $384
*Dates subject to change. Partial sessions are sometimes granted. Please inquire.
Responsibilities include food preparation and kitchen clean up, house-cleaning duties and basic maintenance such as painting, landscaping, wood gathering, etc. The Center provides approximately 8 – 10 work grants for each session and encourages students to attend more than 1 session. Apply early, as availability is limited.
3. Chamber Ensemble Scholarships: Qualified, pre-formed chamber ensembles who have been working together and who have been performing as an ensemble for over a year may apply. This includes brass quintets, woodwind quintets, string quartets, piano trios and piano quartets. For consideration, interested groups should send their applications together in the same envelope along with a recent performance tape or CD of the ensemble. This is a great way to receive substantial aid and play chamber music together all summer. Encourage your ensemble players to apply with you.
4. Student Staff: (Requires a separate application – please call our office!) As a member of our Student Staff, you have an opportunity to work with high school students in a position of leadership as well as helping to defray tuition costs. Duties include in-house supervision of students (under 18), work crew supervision, assisting in scheduling, planning and supervising student activities. Students must be age twenty or older, and/or have completed two years of college in order to be eligible to apply. Each Student Staff member is credited weekly based on work performance. New Student Staff members chosen receive a $900.00 tuition credit. Returning Student Staff chosen will receive a $1,000.00 tuition credit.
Dates are: June 15– July 24.
