of the time modern

Modern day giantresses usually find their way into the entertainment business for humor and parody of the exact movie of which we speak. A few television shows have played off the title for one-shot episodes, such as Phineas and Ferb in Attack of the 50ft Sister and Totally Spies with Attack of the 50ft Mandy. Also toying with the title, there is a set of large stacking blocks for babies predictably called Attack of the 50ft Baby.

Attack of the 50ft Woman has seen a 1993 remake in the form of a television movie, but the most recent uses of towering female characters are less about terror and more about heroics. Nevertheless, the writers can't seem to pass up the obvious chance at allusion to the 1950s classic. Dreamwork's Monsters vs Aliens featurs a team of creatures based on b-movie classics, including a giant woman--Susan, 49ft 11in tall--who goes through a similar discovery of self-worth and problems with her husband as Nancy did. In the image to the left, Giant Girl (the Marvel Adventures solution to Janet van Dyne) stands in parody of Nancy's poster for the cover of her origin issue.
