The wealthy, voluptuous Nancy Archer has a medical history of hysterics and alcohol. She's even seen the inside of an insane asylum. So when she returns from an evening drive off Route 66 in tears saying she saw a satellite and a giant man--maybe 30 foot tall--was trying to steal her beloved Star of India diamond right off her neck, no one believes her.
Her husband Harry, who she loves dearly despite his not-so-secret involvement with Honey Parker, starts to see this recent incident as a chance to have her commited for good. Honey constantly encourages him to get rid of her, eager to be the only concern in his life, with surplus money to spend.
Still shooken up from her encounter and frustrated that no one believes her, Nancy drags Harry out to the desert in hopes of finding the monster again to prove she truly saw what she claims. After a long unsuccessful trip, the two eventually start to return home when Nancy sees the satellite again. Thrilled that she really did see it, she jumps out of the car and runs up to touch it. Unfortunately, because they found the ship the giant alien isn't too far behind, and he once again reaches to her neck after her diamond. Harry freaks out and escapes in the car leaving Nancy behind.
The next day, Harry alerts Honey that they're leaving town, but before he can skip off he's told Sheriff Dubbitt is looking for him. His wife is missing, and they need to keep him around just in case. It isn't much longer before Nancy is found on the roof of her own pool house, asleep. It is assumed she drank herself up there somehow but the scratches on her neck become a big concern when Dr. Cushing discovers a peculiar radiation coming from the wounds. At the Archer household with Harry, Honey overhears Dr. Cushing telling the nurse to be careful with measuring out Nancy's medicine, as even a small overdose could prove fatal. She convinces Harry to take a second dose to Nancy, but before he can inject the serum the nurse walks in and begins to scream. Her cries alert the others and it is discoverd that Nancy has grown to an enormous size. Afraid of her reaction upon waking up in her new state, chains and hooks are immediately brought in to contain her to her room.
Later that day, Harry and Honey can't do anything about the Nancy situation except wait for new developments relevant to their interests, so they spend the evening dancing down at Tony's bar. But it isn't long before Nancy wakes up, and the chains holding her down are not strong enough to prevent her escape.
Large and angry, Nancy immediately goes looking for Harry. She knows where he's at, and storms through the town searching for him. Checking the hotel first to no avail, she ventures on to Tony's bar. She is determined only to find Harry. But once she finds him, what will it solve? You'll have to watch the movie to find out!
